SIBERIAN INFORMATION

SIBERIAN BASICS

WHERE ARE SIBERIAN CATS FROM?

The actual origins of the Siberian cat are unknown. Still, it is believed that exiled Russians transported these cats to Siberia, where their long fur helped them survive in the harsh Siberian environment.

WERE SIBERIAN CATS BRED FOR A REASON?

Siberians are regarded as a landrace breed, which means they just adapted to their habitat over time rather than being developed for a particular purpose or to have a specific appearance.

A weekly brushing should keep the Siberian’s coat in good condition in the summer and winter. On the other hand, the “molt” seasons are spring and fall. Brushing the coat every day will help to eliminate the dead hair and avoid matting during this time when it mats and sheds in huge clumps. Every two weeks or so, all cats should have their claws clipped in addition to grooming. Cats should have their teeth washed twice weekly since they are equally susceptible to periodontal illness.

PURCHASING VS ADOPTING A SIBERIAN

HOW MUCH DOES A SIBERIAN COST?

A Siberian cat may be adopted for $75 to $100 while paying $1,100 to $1,700 to buy one from a breeder.

WHERE CAN I ADOPT A SIBERIAN

The most straightforward approach to adopting a Siberian would be through a Siberian-only rescue.

SIBERIAN SHELTERS AND RESCUES

Numerous wonderful Siberians are frequently available for adoption at nearby animal shelters or rescues.

WHERE CAN I FIND A SIBERIAN BREEDER?

Before you purchase a kitten from a breeder, we advise you to rescue a Siberian cat (or any cat). Across the nation, there are millions of stray cats, many of whom are purebred cats in need of homes. Siberian cat adoption may significantly alter the adopters’ and cats’ lives.

Getting a kitten from a reputed breeder is safer if you’re not persuaded and want to buy a Siberian from a breeder. When working with a breeder, be sure that the breeder you’re buying from genetically tests their animals. You should also double-check the puppy’s health records. Finally, ensure the breeder will return any animals they sell if they cannot keep them in their home for whatever reason, and confirm that they are dedicated to finding those animals new homes if necessary.
