WHAT COLORS DO YORKIES COME IN?
All Yorkshire terrier pups are born with black and tan coats that eventually become gold and blue as they age (not actually “blue” — it reads as a light black colour). The blue colouring is a distinguishing feature of a purebred Yorkshire terrier, and it takes between one and three years for the colours to change. As a result, older dogs have lighter coats because they gradually lose their black colouration and develop more golden and tan shades.

DO YORKIES HAVE A LOT OF HEALTH PROBLEMS?
Even though Yorkies are known to enjoy exceptionally long lives, very few dogs are frequently prone to health problems. WHAT DISEASES ARE YORKIES PRONE TO?

- Legg-Calve-Perthes: This illness results in the femur’s head, found in the dog’s rear limb, degenerating on its own. This will eventually cause arthritis and hip joint degradation. Legg-Calve-Perthes causes a Yorkie to grow lame, walk with a limp, and experience pain while moving the hip joint. The disease is most effectively treated by surgery.
- Progressive Retinal Atrophy: This condition causes the dog’s hind limb femur’s head to spontaneously degenerate. Hip joint degeneration and arthritis will eventually result from this. A Yorkie with Legg-Calve-Perthes develops lameness, walks with a limp, and has hip joint pain. Surgery is the most efficient way to treat the condition.
